Hello, I have been having serious issues with noise during growth curve experiments with E. coli. Below is an example. Raw data is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VwbU3IDWpBykSehsTw3WW09jp8U2NLuP/view?usp=sharing
The noise is present at low OD (~0.0 OD) and high OD (~0.5), but during log phase growth the noise is minimal. Noise is present in the raw photodiode data as well as the OD readings after calibration. I have confirmed that the noise is not due to a hardware issue as the same glass vials read with negligible noise when filled with sterile water. I have also accounted for temperature and stir settings, neither can adequately explain the level of noise I am seeing.
Materials being used are E. coli strain 25922 from ATCC, cultured anaerobically in LB broth at 37 C.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for your time.
