The version of the RS485 board that I have uses a SP3485CN (SP3485CN-L: 1/1, half, 8SOIC, 10Mbps) transciever but I’m having problems finding the IC on stock. Is there any subsitute I could use? Maybe the MAX481CSA used in the Pi HAT?

The MAX481CSA looks like it needs 5V - the RS485 boards only supply 3.3V to the RS485 transceiver.
One of these should work:
MAX3483E/MAX3485E/MAX3486E/MAX3488E/MAX3490E/MAX3491E
